What is Collagen and why is it so important?

Collagen is a protein and type 1 Collagen is the most abundant type of protein in our body.

Proteins are a mixture of amino acids and human type 1 collagen is composed of 18 amino acids which bind together, forming a triple-helix spiral structure.

Connective tissue cells, called fibroblasts, produce and maintain your body’s collagen, but as we age, our fibroblast function becomes weakened, and our natural collagen production begins to slow down.
This change, along with the loss of another key structural protein called Elastin, can lead to tell-tale signs of ageing, such as fine lines, dark spots, dry skin, and brittle hair & nails that are prone to breakage.
